Marvell to Invest $250 Million in India; Bengaluru R&D Expansion to Strengthen AI and Semiconductor Capabilities
Bengaluru, July 29: Marvell Technology Inc. will invest $250 million in India over the next three years to expand its research and development (R&D) footprint, scale engineering talent and strengthen infrastructure, reinforcing the country's growing importance in the global semiconductor value chain.
The investment, announced as the company marked 20 years of operations in India, will be directed towards expanding its Bengaluru campus with a new office wing, strengthening operations in Hyderabad and doubling its India workforce over the next three years.
The expansion is aimed at accelerating the development of next-generation semiconductor technologies for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and data infrastructure, sectors witnessing rapid global demand driven by hyperscale cloud providers and AI workloads.
"India has emerged as a strategic engineering hub for Marvell and plays a vital role in developing the infrastructure technologies powering the world's leading cloud companies," said Navin Bishnoi, Vice President and India Country Manager, Marvell. He said the company remains committed to increasing R&D investments, supporting India's semiconductor ecosystem and nurturing the next generation of engineering talent.
Marvell entered India in 2006 with operations in Bengaluru and has since built the country into its second-largest global R&D centre.
Its engineering teams across Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune are engaged in advanced semiconductor design, including process technologies at 2 nanometres and beyond, high-speed analog IP, subsystem architecture, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon engineering.
The company said its India operations contribute across multiple technology platforms, with engineers holding several patents and increasingly deploying AI-powered engineering tools to improve productivity and accelerate product development.
Industry experts view the investment as another indicator of India's growing role in the global semiconductor ecosystem, supported by a deep engineering talent pool, expanding design capabilities and government initiatives to promote semiconductor manufacturing and design.
Alongside its technology investments, Marvell continues to deepen collaboration with universities, startups, industry associations and government institutions through internship programmes, faculty development, joint research, curriculum enhancement and startup mentorship to strengthen the country's semiconductor innovation ecosystem.
The company also highlighted its Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (MSTEM) programme, launched earlier this year to develop future semiconductor talent. The initiative attracted more than 7,000 applications from engineering students across India, with 100 scholarships awarded to students pursuing electronics, electrical engineering and computer science. The programme combines financial support with industry exposure to prepare students for careers in semiconductor and AI technologies.
The latest investment reflects Marvell's long-term strategy to expand its global engineering capabilities while leveraging India's growing position as a centre for advanced semiconductor research, product development and AI-driven innovation.
